Scopely is looking for a Staff Server Engineer to join our new unannounced project in Barcelona, Spain to work on a hybrid basis 3 times a week. We can support with visa sponsorship and relocation support.

We are in the development stages of one of our new unannounced projects. We are looking for passionate game makers to collaborate, get in early and make their mark on this exciting venture
We are in the early stages of development on a bold, unannounced, cross-platform Strategy/MMO title, crafting a team of dedicated and hard-working game makers to join us on this exciting journey!
What You Will Do

The Staff Backend Software Engineer will lead the effort to develop new backend features for our game, focusing on developing large scale features in collaboration with other developers and game stakeholders

Work as part of a cross functional team that develops core technologies and game features

Mentor members of the backend teams
-
Analyze and identify technical bottlenecks in the existing codebase as well as future implementations, and propose new technical strategies

Refactor and optimize internal code to improve efficiency, scalability, and maintainability
-
Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure cohesive and scalable backend architecture
-
Develop and enforce best practices for code quality, and emphasize maintainability and scalability in a distributed architecture

Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
-
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to continually enhance backend technologies and practices
-
Collaborate with Design, Product and other game stakeholders to define roadmap and prioritize technical initiatives.
What We’re Looking For

Experienced in Software Development
-
Experience in developing highly available back-end systems and servers for large-scale MMO games, high-traffic web systems or applications
-
Experienced with Go, Python and C#.

Deep understanding of microservices architecture, cloud-native development, and container orchestration
-
Problem-solving skills and ability to lead complex projects
-
High leadership skills, with experience mentoring junior and peer engineers
-
High degree of collaboration in a cross functional team to deliver product features focused on solid and realistic solutions.
