Process Automation IT and Test Engineer The Process Automation IT and Test Engineer play a key role in designing, developing, optimizing and qualification of manufacturing systems of new production lines.
This role ensures high equipment performance, process reliability, and seamless integration between automation, control systems, and digital manufacturing platforms.
You will partner closely with engineering, operations, and IT teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity. *Location: Planta Rojo Gómez. *100% on site.
What You Will Do Automation & Test System Design Integration Design, implement, and commission automation solutions for manufacturing processes, assembly lines, and test equipment.
Develop and optimize PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications to ensure robust machine control and operator interface functionality.
Integrate automation systems with MES, industrial networks, databases, and analytic platforms.
Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings to define automation and electrical test requirements.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, throughput, quality, and process stability.
Lead troubleshooting activities to resolve equipment failures, defects, and system interruptions.
Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance process performance.
Evaluate and qualify equipment performance against quality, safety, and production KPIs.
Ensure the testability of new product offerings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for assembly processes and testing equipment.
Technical Support & Manufacturing Excellence Provide advanced support to production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
Lead root‑cause analysis for automation‑related issues and develop long‑term corrective actions.
Conduct training and documentation for equipment operation, troubleshooting, and best practices.
Innovation & Industrial Digitalization Identify and deploy new technologies for robotics, vision systems, connectivity, and smart manufacturing.
Drive digital transformation initiatives aligned with
Industry: 4.0 and advanced analytics.
Ensure compliance with automation standards, cybersecurity practices, and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Skills Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Ladder, Structured Text,
Function: Block).
Experience: with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial control architectures.
Familiarity with robotics, motion control, and vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, CAN).
Experience: in integrating automation with MES or other manufacturing IT systems.
Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation principles.
Strong experience with Test Stand and Labview applications Problem‑Solving & Critical Thinking: Structured approach to analyzing complex issues and proposing effective solutions.
Collaboration: Ability to work with cross‑functional teams in engineering, IT, operations, and quality.
Communication: Clear English verbal and written communication for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Ownership: Takes initiative and delivers results with minimal supervision.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in fast‑paced environments with multiple priorities.
Open to travel.
Education: & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 1–5 years of experience in automation engineering, manufacturing engineering, or industrial controls.
Experience: in high‑volume manufacturing environments is a strong plus 25% travel is required.
