Role and Responsibilities:

Position Overview

We are seeking a PhD student or early-career researcher with hands-on experience in machine learning, computer vision, and deep learning to join our R&D group.This role combines academic-level research with industrial application, contributing to next-generation image understanding, enhancement, and generative AI solutions for advanced camera systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development of ML/DL algorithms for computer vision tasks such as image enhancement, object detection, segmentation, and scene understanding.

  • Develop and evaluate generative AI and diffusion models for imaging and photo synthesis.

  • Design and implement prototypes and experiments for algorithm validation and performance optimization.

  • Support data collection, preparation, model training, and performance analysis on large-scale image and video datasets.

  • Stay current with state-of-the-art ML, CV, and AI literature, proposing innovative approaches relevant to Samsung’s R&D roadmap.

  • Document & present research outcomes internally and in global collaboration meetings.

Skills and Qualifications

Requirements:

  • PhD (or advanced PhD stage) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in machine learning, computer vision, or AI research, either in academia or industry.

  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of deep learning architectures (CNNs, transformers, diffusion, or generative models).

  • Experience with image and video datasets, performance evaluation, and optimization of ML models.

  • Analytical mindset and ability to conduct experimental research independently.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience developing ML models for camera systems, photo enhancement, or imaging applications.

  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) or multimodal learning.
