Position Summary
In your role as a CVD Process Supervisor, you'll be responsible for preventing performance and quality issues from occurring in equipment used in production process.
You'll also maximize investment efficiency by carrying out scientific and economical maintenance tasks for equipment used in production process.
Lastly, you'll conduct maintenance of equipment used in production process without any environmental safety-related accidents.
Role and Responsibilities:
Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:
New Factory & Tool Setup Leadership:
- Support tool installation and startup in coordination with Equipment and Process Engineering teams.
- Lead technician execution of post-setup process qualification (Process Qual) runs.
- Ensure tools meet readiness criteria prior to volume manufacturing.
- Maintain shift-level ownership of startup performance and execution discipline.
Technician Supervision & Mentorship
- Supervise Process Technicians during assigned shift (day or night).
- Provide hands-on guidance during qualification runs and abnormal events.
- Mentor technicians on process control fundamentals, SPC chart interpretation, defect trend analysis, and escalation protocols.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide continuous coaching.
- Foster a culture of accountability, technical rigor, and operational discipline.
SPC & Defect Monitoring Oversight
- Ensure timely and disciplined review of SPC charts, control limit violations, Cp/Cpk trends, and inline defect inspection data.
- Hold technicians accountable for initial data review and disposition.
- Drive proactive identification of process instability or yield risk.
- Escalate abnormalities per defined escalation matrix.
Escalation & Issue Management:
- Act as primary shift-level escalation point for SPC violations, tool qualification failures, defect excursions, and safety incidents.
- Ensure rapid communication to Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and Quality teams.
- Maintain strong documentation and clear shift-to-shift handoffs.
Training & Technician Development Roadmap
- Develop structured training plans aligned with factory ramp milestones.
- Build technician skill matrices and certification pathways.
- Roadmap technician progression from basic operations to advanced qualification ownership.
- Partner with manufacturing leadership to identify and develop high-potential technicians.
- Establish long-term technician capability strategy to support sustained production growth.
Manufacturing Discipline & Shift Operations:
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, cleanroom protocol, and contamination control standards.
- Monitor WIP flow and support efficient qualification throughput.
- Lead shift meetings and ensure clear communication across teams.
- Track and report KPIs related to qualification success rate, output vs target, tool readiness, and safety performance.
Skills and Qualifications
Here's what you'll need:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent semiconductor fab experience).

9+ years semiconductor fabrication experience.

5+ years supervisory or team leadership experience.

Experience supporting tool install, startup, or new fab ramp activities.

Strong understanding of SPC, defect control, and process qualification methodology.
-
Experience working in 24/7 high-volume manufacturing environments.

Knowledge of basic safety protocols (ladder safety, how to read MSDS, wearing PPE, etc.)
-
Basic project management skills.

Be proficient with Microsoft Windows based applications.
Desirable experience, but not mandatory:
-
Internship or engineering project work in a semiconductor fab, research lab, or advanced materials startup.
-
Exposure to SPC, Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, or other statistical process tools.
-
Prior experience with equipment facilitation and qualification.
-
Knowledge of fault detection and classification (FDC) or data collection.
-
systems for the purpose of advanced equipment troubleshooting.

The current base salary range for this role is between $69,070 - $156,950. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
