Job Title: Portfolio Management Director (IC)Location: New York, NY

About the Team:

Salesforce is seeking an experienced Portfolio Management Director to lead transformational technology initiatives within our IT Delivery Services organization. This role supports the IT Experience Engineering organization, which encompasses ITSM, Endpoint Engineering, and End User Collaboration and Productivity services.

As part of a dynamic, global team, you will build and support technology solutions that meet the operational needs of both internal and external customers. You will collaborate closely with IT business partners, IT Product & Engineering Teams, Security, Operations/Support Teams, and various internal and external stakeholders to manage portfolios and projects from initiation through delivery.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned IT professional with a strong technical background and extensive experience in IT Experience Engineering or related technologies. This role requires working knowledge of both plan-driven (waterfall) and agile development methodologies to lead cross-functional project teams through implementations under tight timelines. With strong emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills, you will lead cross-functional teams across multiple time zones while maintaining accountability for timelines and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with executive stakeholders on annual portfolio planning, ensuring program alignment with overall business objectives
  • Lead executive stakeholders and project teams in scope/schedule alignment and drive mitigation of issues and risks for high-impact business opportunities
  • Coach teams in industry-leading practices for project scope and schedule management
  • Remove blockers and mitigate project risks to maximize team productivity and ensure on-time delivery across the portfolio
  • Balance business needs with technical constraints, facilitate creative solution discussions, and negotiate trade-offs
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members and drive delivery alignment practices across teams
  • Cultivate effective, trusted working relationships with global, matrixed teams across multiple time zones
  • Manage all budget and financial aspects of the portfolio, collaborating with Technical Program Managers to balance overall portfolio budget across programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent technical leadership experience (advanced management degrees preferred)
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in technical program/portfolio management
  • 7+ years leading SaaS product development programs with demonstrated understanding of SaaS business models and product development lifecycles
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile delivery, Scrum Project Management methodologies, and plan-driven delivery methodologies
  • Proven track record leading infrastructure, shared technology services, and/or security programs
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with ability to communicate complex issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including VP and C-level executives
  • Ability to work independently, identify solutions, and drive implementation
  • Strong partnership development skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve consensus and positive outcomes through collaborative problem-solving
  • Experience coaching and developing team members through clear performance feedback
  • Customer-focused approach with ability to balance results-driven attitude with diplomatic stakeholder management
  • Proficiency in all aspects of project management methodology, including scope management, schedule management, financial management, issue & risk management, resource management, execution governance, and continuous process improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Salesforce platform, ITSM, End User Computing, Application Support, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and underlying technologies
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile certifications (Scrum Master, SAFe, etc.)
