What is an Account Solution Engineer?
Also known as a “Presales”, “Solution Advisor”, “Sales Consultant,” or “Sales Engineer” the Account Solution Engineer is responsible for owning the solutions throughout the sales cycle and delivering thought leadership to companies to transform their customer’s experience. The Solution Engineer is an expert who works alongside their colleagues, participates in building our team culture and supports their aligned sales team to create solutions for prospects and customers.
To accomplish this, you should have a strong desire to set the vision translating business objectives into enticing and practical recommendations. The Solution Engineer acts as a trusted advisor to our customers while aiding the customer’s transformational journey.
Responsibilities:

Strategic Customer Engagement: Partner with sales teams to drive digital transformation initiatives for automotive and manufacturing enterprises, positioning Salesforce as the platform for the agentic enterprise where AI agents work alongside humans to drive business outcomes

Solution Architecture & Design: Lead technical discovery sessions to understand complex business processes across manufacturing operations, supply chain, dealer networks, and customer experience, translating requirements into comprehensive Salesforce solutions spanning across the portfolio

Agentic AI Evangelism: Demonstrate and articulate how Agentforce and autonomous AI agents can transform customer-facing and internal operations—from intelligent service agents handling customer inquiries to autonomous SDR agents qualifying leads and autonomous sales coaches optimizing rep performance

Value-Based Selling: Build and present compelling business cases that connect technical solutions to measurable business outcomes, focusing on revenue growth through platform expansion, cross-cloud opportunities, and demonstrating clear ROI

Demo/Workshop/Proof of Concept Execution: Design and deliver impactful demonstrations, customer workshops and POCs that showcase the art of the possible, that drives operational efficiency in automotive/manufacturing contexts

Trusted Advisor Relationship Building: Establish yourself as a strategic technology advisor to C-level and senior technical stakeholders, understanding their industry challenges around lead-to-cash, connected products, dealer management, warranty management, and evolving customer expectations

Platform Expansion & Land-and-Expand Strategy: Identify opportunities to expand Salesforce footprint within existing accounts by uncovering new use cases across departments and business units, driving NNAOV through strategic platform growth

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with product specialists, industry advisors, architects, and customer success teams to ensure seamless handoffs and contribute to the broader solution engineering community through knowledge sharing and best practice documentation

Solution Engineering Excellence: Proven track record as a pre-sales solution engineer, sales engineer, or technical consultant successfully supporting complex software sales cycles

Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business value rather than just technical features, with experience building business cases, ROI models, and value realization frameworks that resonate with executive buyers

Growth Mindset: Intellectual curiosity and commitment to continuous learning in a rapidly evolving technology landscape, particularly around AI/ML, data platforms, and industry-specific innovations

Customer-Centric: Consultative approach with exceptional listening skills and the ability to ask insightful discovery questions that uncover both stated and unstated customer needs
-
AI & Automation Fluency: Understanding of how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomous agents are reshaping business processes, with ability to translate technical AI capabilities into business outcomes
-
Communication skills: Polished communication and presentation skills with the confidence to engage C-suite executives, technical architects, and operational managers alike, adapting your message and medium to each audience

Collaborative Team Player: Experience working in matrix organizations, partnering effectively with account executives, customer success managers, product teams, technical architects as well as external partners to drive customer outcomes

Language Skills: Professional English proficiency required. Salesforce company language is English incl. corporate communication and meetings.

Proven Track Record: History of meeting or exceeding sales quotas through technical contribution, with metrics demonstrating impact on win rates, deal size, and sales cycle velocity
Preferred Skills and Experience
-
Industry Expertise: Experience in automotive or manufacturing sectors, with understanding of industry-specific challenges e.g dealer network management, connected vehicle services, aftermarket operations, supply chain complexity, and the shift toward electric and autonomous vehicles
-
Prior experience in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, ERP or equivalent fields.
-
Hands-on experience with Salesforce platform configuration, including exposure to Flow, Lightning Web Components, or Apex development
-
Previous experience and/or certification in Salesforce solutions such as Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Field Service, Revenue Cloud, B2B Commerce.
-
Understanding of modern data architecture concepts including data lakes, real-time integration, API management, and master data management
-
Experience with AI/ML platforms, prompt engineering, or implementing intelligent automation solutions
-
Knowledge of automotive industry standards and protocols (e.g., STAR, CDK, DMS systems, telematics platforms)
-
Exposure to Mule Soft, Tableau, or other Salesforce ecosystem products
-
Experience with value engineering methodologies, business case development tools, or value realization frameworks
-
Previous experience selling or implementing large-scale ERP, CRM, or digital transformation platforms (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
-
Understanding of European data privacy regulations (GDPR) and automotive industry compliance requirements

Project management or Agile methodology certifications
-
Experience in presenting and hosting webinars or public speaking..

Active participation in Salesforce community, Trailhead accomplishments, or speaking engagements at industry events
