THE COMPANY

Saildrone is a maritime defense company and the global leader in autonomous unmanned surface vehicles (USVs). With more ocean miles and real-world operational experience than any USV manufacturer or operator, Saildrone maintains active, combat-deployed systems supporting national security and force projection around the world, 24/7/365.

Saildrone’s manufacturing and R&D headquarters are located in Alameda, CA, with business development and sales operations in Washington, DC, and deployment hubs in Europe and the Middle East. By combining proven autonomous operations, edge computing, advanced sensing, renewable power, and the most advanced and robust unmanned surface technology on the planet, Saildrone is shaping how the Navy of the future operates. Join a fast-moving, mission-driven team at the forefront of maritime security and autonomous innovation.

THE POSITION

Saildrone is seeking a Manager, Revenue to join our Finance team. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will play a critical role in shaping Saildrone’s revenue accounting framework, ensuring accurate, compliant revenue recognition across complex contracts and evolving business models. We are looking for a technical accounting leader who creates clarity from complexity, builds scalable processes, and is equally comfortable in high-level strategy as they are in the nitty-gritty of contract memos, cash applications, and audit schedules.

THE TEAM

The Finance team ensures Saildrone’s financial foundation scales with global deployments and advanced technology development. We partner closely with Sales, Contracts, Program Management, and FP&A to deliver accurate, timely financial insights that support operations in a national security and defense environment.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Full-Cycle Revenue Ownership: Lead the end-to-end revenue process—including contract review, invoicing, cash payment application, and credit memoranda—ensuring the accuracy of the sub-ledger through to the general ledger.

  • Technical Documentation & Policy: Prepare detailed accounting memoranda for all new and non-standard contracts; maintain the corporate Revenue Recognition Policy and proactively monitor FASB/SEC updates to ensure compliance with evolving guidance.

  • Cross-Functional Deal Support: Serve as a "Deal Desk" partner to Sales and Contracts, providing technical guidance on deal structuring and ASC 606 implications for new and complex revenue models.

  • Operational Revenue Alignment: Partner with FP&A and Mission Management to translate real-world deployment milestones and maritime operations into accurate, timely revenue recognition and forecasting.

  • Rigorous Close & Analysis: Execute all revenue-related close cycles, performing budget-to-actual variance analysis and deep-dive reconciliations for deferred revenue and customer collections.

  • Systems Optimization: Own and optimize Net Suite ARM rules, sales order workflows, and automated reporting to support a scaling, multi-site global operation.

  • Audit & SOX Readiness: Lead the revenue portion of the annual audit—providing all schedules, testing samples, and footnote disclosures—while maintaining internal controls to SOX-readiness standards.

  • Leadership & Excellence: Establish a culture of precision and accountability; identify process gaps, implement scalable corrective actions, and mentor the team on revenue accounting best practices.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA strongly preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience in revenue/technical accounting. A mix of public accounting and industry experience is highly preferred.

  • Expert-level knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and SEC reporting requirements.

  • Hands-on Net Suite ARM experience is essential.

  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, defensible technical accounting memos for complex, multi-element arrangements (SaaS + Hardware + Services).

  • Strong analytical skills with an "immaculate attention to detail" regarding reconciliations and data integrity.

  • Proven ability to partner with Sales and Program Management in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
