Raytheon’s Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit (SBU) specializes in multi-domain integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors and cyber solutions.

We are looking to hire a Senior Embedded Software Development Engineer to be part of the sub-SBU that focuses on Surveillance & Reconnaissance deliverable.

What You Will Do:

Be part of a small, highly-focused team working to develop and maintain real-time, embedded software for sensor systems. The team members are multi-disciplined and contribute across all phases of systems engineering, software development, integration and test, and metrics. The team works closely with operations personnel to meet unique and continuously evolving development needs.

• Design, develop, integrate, and test real-time, embedded sensor software.
• Review and produce software design and development documents.
• Work with talented teams of engineers, architects, and leaders in an Agile environment.
• Develop advanced real-time software in an Agile environment.
• Implement modern Dev Sec Ops and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery techniques.
• Use Software lifecycle practices on defense projects.
• Work onsite in El Segundo, CA

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Experience with real-time software development using C or C++.
• Experience with a real-time operating system such as Vx Works.
• Experience with Linux scripting languages such as Bash.
• An active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Proficiency in Cameo and some AI experience preferably within defense-related programs.
• Basic understanding of Spacewire and RMAP (Remote Memory Access Protocol)
• Basic understanding of Data Processing mode control
• Experience developing software in a SAFe Agile environment.
• Experience with the software development lifecycle for government customers.
• Experience working in a lab environment with physical hardware.
• Experience with development tools such as Git, Jira, and Bitbucket.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
