About the Role

As a Lead Java Cloud Developer at Rockwell Automation, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and testing activities for industry-leading Manufacturing Execution System (MES) products. We integrate them with machine automation, control systems, and ERP software. Assignments include participation in product requirements development, leading architectural design, coding and testing in all stages of the product software development lifecycle. You will collaborate with multiple global cross-functional teams allowing you to become part of an international team that is committed to open and direct communications. You will report to your manager located in Karlsruhe, Germany and have a hybrid work schedule in Karlsruhe (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays).

Responsibilities

• Design and implementation of new software features for MES software products with modern continuous integration and development tools
• Participate in the software quality process, including design and code review, and developing unit and functional tests and testware
• Report, analyze, debug and correct anomalies
• Participate as a member of a team within the (SAFe) Agile Framework and promote Agile practices within the team
• Coordinate activities of other employees

The Essentials

• You Will Have

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent knowledge

• Minimum 8 years of related experience in software product development and technical leadership

• Working knowledge of Java technology, including Jakarta EE and Spring

• Experience with object-oriented analysis and design using common design patterns

• Will of immersing into domain-specific knowledge

The Preferred

• You Might Also Have

• Knowledge of domain-driven design

• Proficiency in data structures, algorithms, and design using Jakarta EE including class loading, memory management, transaction management, asynchronous message handling, multithreading, localization

• Experience with cloud technologies (Docker and Kubernetes)

• Familiarity with API development (OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, or GraphQL)

• Database design and programming skills (SQLServer, or Oracle)

• Familiarity with CI/CD systems and Dev Sec Ops principles

• Domain knowledge in industrial automation and MES applications

• Experience with globally distributed teams

• Proficiency in both English and German

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid role. Rockwell Automation's hybrid policy aligns that employees are expected to work at a Rockwell location at least Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays unless they have a business obligation out of the office.
