As a Senior Software Engineer, Communications, you’ll be in charge of building rich, immersive and engaging user communication experiences to empower safe and seamless ways for people and our creators to express themselves in different modalities better than in real life with Voice, Camera, and Text, at scale in both 2D and 3D space

You will work closely with different teams (Avatar, game engine, Creator, Trust & Safety, other product teams) to build experiences that millions of users engage with on a daily basis, while keeping them safe and civil.

You Will:

• Devise creative solutions to optimize and scale our systems to support communication for a billion people on the platform.

• Introduce and improve our processes to help us be more effective and efficient.

• Use best programming practices, optimizing code to be performant

• Instrumental in launching high quality real time communication products/features on mobile devices and high end platforms

• Enforce high quality standards while we iterate on feature development.

You Have:

• 3+ years of experience as a front-end or client apps engineer working on complex user interfaces, in close collaboration with product and design partners

• 2+ years working on large-scale consumer applications in React/Redux, React Native, iOS, Android, Windows, Mac OS and other platforms.

• Well versed in performance monitoring, profiling and optimization

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science

• Having experience in Lua is a bonus.

• Experience with C++

• Experience with product experimentation (A/B tests, holdouts etc.)

• Experience in analyzing & improving client performance, optimizing device memory and framerate.

• Experience building games with Roblox Studio

• Team-oriented: You can work well as part of a team and know how to collaborate with all participants to develop the best solutions. You are happy to share your knowledge with everyone on the team.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range**$195,780—$242,100 USD**
Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
