The Advisor Platform team’s mission is to empower financial advisors with the next generation of tools so they can better serve their clients. We’re building foundational infrastructure to support Robinhood’s expansion into new markets and customer segments. This team values curiosity, collaboration, and accountability in solving meaningful technical challenges at scale!

As a Senior Staff Backend Engineer, you’ll lead complex technical initiatives, shape architectural decisions, and drive platform-level improvements. You’ll play a critical role in building scalable backend systems and mentoring engineers across the organization.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise B2B applications for financial advisors.

• Architect and implement scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems.

• Guide technical execution and mentor engineers across multiple teams and projects.

• Collaborate with product and operations partners to build secure and compliant platforms that improve workflows and service capabilities.

• Apply AI tools and technologies to power innovative features for advisors.

What you bring

• 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production environments.

• Deep expertise in backend programming (e.g., Go, Python, Java) and cloud-native architecture.

• 3+ years of experience leading large engineering teams or cross-functional technical initiatives.

• Strong system design skills and a solid foundation in software engineering best practices.

• Proven ability to communicate technical solutions clearly and deliver end-to-end projects at scale.

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
