The Associate Software Maintenance Engineer is responsible for executing tasks following detailed instructions and standardised procedures to ensure product stability and resolution of routine technical issues. This role exercises judgment in troubleshooting and debugging software issues, resolving problems of minimal complexity, and ensuring maintenance tasks are completed on time. The position involves collaborating with more senior engineers for guidance and skill development.

What you will do

• Provide technical support to Red Hat enterprise customers

• Work with Red Hat enterprise customers across the globe on 24x7 basis that requires one to work in different shifts periodically

• Diagnose problems, troubleshoot customer issues, and develop solutions to technical issues

• Exceed customer expectations by providing outstanding customer service

• Consult with and develop relationships with in-house engineers and developers to promote creative solutions and improve customer satisfaction

• Contribute to the global Red Hat knowledge management system while working on customer issues

What you will bring

• 2 years of Linux experience in the enterprise sector, with excellent administration skills

• Thorough knowledge of the Linux kernel, networking, and memory management

• Excellent troubleshooting skills, and a passion for problem solving and investigation

• Ability to work with conflicting priorities, take initiative, and maintain a customer-centric focus

• Plus to have any knowledge with Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure/Open Shift or Virtualization

• Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing LLMs (e.g., Google Gemini), as relevant, for tasks such as brainstorming solutions, deep research, summarizing technical documentation, drafting communications, summarizing complex technical information, and enhancing problem-solving efficiency across the development lifecycle.

• Explore and experiment with emerging AI technologies relevant to role, proactively identifying opportunities to incorporate new AI capabilities into existing workflows and tooling.
