At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

The Advanced Products Center (APC) Manufacturing Engineering organization is seeking a Second-Shift SMT Technician to join the CCA Process Engineering team. This hands-on role operates in a fast-paced, collaborative cleanroom environment focused on RF microelectronic packaging and surface mount technology (SMT). The team drives technical excellence by developing and implementing materials, processes, and improvements while providing production support through statistical process control, experimental design, material analysis, and root cause analysis. Responsibilities include evaluating materials, equipment, and processes, collaborating with internal and external suppliers to resolve technical challenges, and supporting both advanced automation and mature production processes. We foster a culture of growth, support, and recognition, seeking candidates who are hands-on, proactive, adaptable, and ready to solve unique challenges in an automated manufacturing environment.

What You Will Do

  • Provide on-site support for the Microwave Automated Factory, an ISO Class 8 cleanroom environment, addressing equipment, process, material, and product issues in a high-volume, high-mix production setting.

  • Support assembly processes such as automated epoxy component attachment, Surface Mount Technology (SMT) soldering, and RF assembly.

  • Collaborate closely with product, quality, reliability, and manufacturing engineers to optimize product manufacturing.

  • Develop and implement materials, processes, and process improvements using statistical process control, experimental design, material analysis, mechanical design analysis, and root cause analysis.

  • Evaluate and qualify materials, equipment, and processes, including acceptance testing and specification development, while working with internal and external suppliers to resolve technical challenges.

Work 2nd shift (2:00 PM–10:00 PM) with the potential for a 9/80 schedule (2:00 PM–11:00 AM for 9 days over 2 weeks).

Spend 10+ hours per day in a cleanroom environment, adhering to cleanroom and electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with automated assembly equipment.

  • Experience in computer systems, including familiarity with Microsoft Operating Systems (XP, Windows 7, Windows 10) and applications such as MS Word and Excel.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Certification in J-STD-001 or equivalent industry standards.

  • Hands-on experience with Automated Dispense, Pick-and-Place, and SMT Soldering processes.

  • Proficiency in manual assembly builds with attention to detail and precision.

  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team while contributing independently when required.

  • Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities to address challenges efficiently.

  • Training in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies
