Machine Operator I is an entry-level role designed for individuals looking to start a career in machining and manufacturing. No prior certification is required. In this position, you will receive hands-on training to develop a foundational understanding of machining operations and processes.

Working under the guidance of a certified Machine Operator (Level II or higher), you will learn to set up and operate a variety of CNC and manual machines to produce precision parts. You will follow established standard work, safety procedures, and quality requirements while building the skills needed to operate equipment effectively.

This role focuses on developing technical proficiency and preparing operators to achieve machine operator certification within 120 days. Operators are encouraged to ask questions, identify issues, and collaborate with experienced operators, lead technicians, supervisors, and engineers to ensure quality and continuous learning.

External applicants are eligible for a $1,000 sign on bonus.

What You Will Do:

  • Learn how to set up and operate precision manual and/or computerized machining centers according to standard.
  • Learn how to adjust machine feed/spindle speeds and the changing of tooling and cutters per machining.
  • Learn how to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Understand and follow quality testing techniques. Learn how to inspect product using precision gauges, measuring instruments and equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Manufacturing Documentation and Labor Transactions.
  • Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
  • Actively participates in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities.
  • Works under immediate supervision. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.
  • Develops basic job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.
  • Tasks are routine/ repetitive in nature, requiring limited judgment. Has little or no role in decision-making.
  • Over 40 hours per week as scheduled to meet business needs.
  • All other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.

  • Works closely with Engineering when problems arise and take feedback on process changes

Qualifications We Require:

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • CNC Lathe experience
  • CNC Mill experience
  • Manual dexterity to perform tasks associated with machine operations
  • Previous experience reading and understanding blueprints.
  • Basic computer proficiency (e-mail, print documents, internet)
  • Experience operating a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions.
  • Basic shop math including knowledge of Geometric Tolerances.
  • Basic proficiency with identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems.
  • Experience with Micrometers, Drop Indicators, and other measurement devices.
  • Previous experience trouble shooting issues when setting up the machine
  • Previous experience effectively communicating with all levels of employees and management.
