2026 Summer Internship, Acoustics

The Acoustics team at RTX Technology Research Center invites individuals with expertise in computational and/or experimental aeroacoustics or hydroacoustics to apply for a 2026 Summer Internship position. We are seeking an intern to join our cohesive team of research engineers and technicians who are focused on developing innovative technologies and solving challenging problems for aerospace and defense applications.

The intern is expected to be innovative in the delivery of modeling capabilities or measurement techniques and technologies through creative analysis and problem solving; to possess the ability to engage and collaborate in a fast-paced multi-faceted environment; and to communicate research results effectively through both verbal and written means.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Enrollment in a Master's or Ph.D. degree program in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a closely related field, with an expected graduation date no earlier than September 2026.
• Knowledge of aeroacoustics related to propulsion systems, rotor technologies, turbomachinery, compression systems, acoustic liners, high-speed flows, or hydroacoustics applied to vehicle and propulsion system noise.
• Experience applying computational and/or experimental skills to advance new technologies.
• U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen or permanent resident).

• Adaptability and the ability to excel in a collaborative environment.
• Strong communication skills, including both informal and formal presentation abilities, with a talent for building positive relationships with internal and external partners.
• Capability to navigate uncertain requirements, develop innovative problem-solving approaches, and identify when to involve additional subject matter experts.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
