About the Role:

The Director of Global Design Language is a strategic leadership role responsible for the creation, curation, and expansion of our global digital design language. This role will be instrumental in ensuring design consistency across our digital platforms, fostering a cohesive brand identity, and driving user experience excellence. Reporting to the VP, Global Brand and Design Language, this role will unify brand and UX design through a shared design language and scalable systems. It plays a critical role in aligning design efforts across business units, ensuring that teams are empowered by a common foundation while maintaining flexibility for regional and functional needs.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive global design language that aligns with Prudential's brand identity and business objectives
  • Establish governance frameworks that ensure consistency while enabling creativity and regional flexibility.
  • Drive adoption and expansion of our enterprise Design System by aligning teams and advocating for its use across markets and functions.
  • Integrate brand and experience, partnering with Marketing, Product, and Technology to ensure cohesive expression across all digital and service environments.
  • Operationalize design excellence through tools, templates, and scalable standards that streamline collaboration.
  • Foster alignment across UX teams in different business units, acting as a connector and enabler of shared practices and principles.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level presentations that clearly articulate the value, impact, and roadmap of design standards to senior stakeholders.
  • Advance global design maturity by championing inclusive, scalable, and future-ready design practices.
  • Define and track success metrics for design standards adoption, quality, and efficiency across the enterprise.

About you:

  • You’re a systems thinker who brings clarity to complexity and thrives on building scalable frameworks.
  • You’re passionate about design governance and know how to balance structure with creative freedom.
  • You’re a connector—able to bridge Brand, UX, and technology to create cohesive, high-quality experiences.
  • You’re a strategic communicator who can influence without authority and build coalitions across functions.
  • You’re confident presenting to executive audiences and skilled at translating design strategy into business impact.
  • You’re a multiplier who develops people, builds systems that scale, and leaves a lasting impact.
  • You’re skilled at setting a fast pace, while ensuring that the details don’t get dropped. We want to ensure we build a robust system but need to show fast progress.

What you'll need:

  • 8+ years of experience in design leadership roles, with a focus on design systems, standards, or brand integration.
  • Proven success in defining and scaling design guidelines across large, matrixed organizations.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility, usability, and inclusive design principles.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Technology, and Product.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Experience managing or influencing multidisciplinary teams (design ops, systems, brand, etc.).
