Position Summary:
As our Director of Market Intelligence, you will lead company efforts in gathering and interpreting competitive, industry, geographic, and other external environment data to guide business growth and strategic planning. You will own the market intelligence function, manage a team of analysts and partner cross-functionally to deliver actionable insights that drive our expansion and competitive positioning.
Major Responsibilities:

Develop and execute comprehensive research strategies that integrate competitive, industry, and location-based insights to evaluate new markets, customer growth opportunities, and competitive threats.

Translate intelligence on marketplace shifts—technology, political, social, and economic trends—into recommendations that shape corporate growth and operational decisions. Facilitate discussions with senior leadership, encouraging open debate and challenging assumptions.

Direct ongoing research and analysis of competitor activities, customer industries, federal/state/local transportation policies, and infrastructure developments to maintain our market edge.

Lead strategic risk assessment and scenario planning efforts based on market intelligence to anticipate business disruptions and inform proactive decision-making.

Produce clear, impactful reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership and cross-functional teams to inform strategic, sales, and marketing planning.

Own and continuously improve the market intelligence technology stack, including platforms, analytics tools, and data visualization software to enhance data quality, accessibility, and reporting efficiency.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree required in Business, Economics, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Supply Chain Management and/or Liberal Arts.

Masters Degree preferred in Business, Marketing, Public Policy, Economics and/or Social Sciences. If no degree, equivalent work experience is required.
Who You Are:

A strategic thinker with 10+ years of leadership experience in market intelligence, competitive analysis, or strategic planning — preferably in transportation, heavy equipment, freight movement, logistics, or related industries. Advanced primary and secondary data collection methods and techniques; skilled with accessing government and syndicated data resources.

Advanced background in strategic risk assessment, scenario planning, and strategic foresight methodologies.

Communicates and influences, comfortable with presenting to senior leadership and collaborating across teams.

Inspires, mentors, and manages teams

Creates relationships and networks within and across the business to gauge business and market pulse

Intermediate knowledge in US trucking industry, including leasing models, fleet operations, and maintenance services.

Intermediate knowledge transportation infrastructure, economic policies, and social sustainability trends that impact business.

Thrives on analyzing changing trends and competitive moves in the market

Advanced knowledge in data tools such as Tableau, Power BI, AI, or similar platforms.

Proven capabilities leading technology implementation and improvements for market intelligence functions.

Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
