Pay Pal, Inc. seeks Senior Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Engage with multiple teams of highly talented engineers and architects to design and develop highly scalable, unique customizable solutions that meet the needs of Pay Pal customers and stakeholders. Collaborate with leadership across Product, Architecture, Design, and Engineering to design, propose, discuss, and refine new software features and functionalities. Analyze existing software architecture against business requirements and deliver innovative solutions that meet organizational needs. Communicate with stakeholders on technical standards, principles, methodologies, and trends throughout the software development lifecycle. Enhance overall system operational characteristics by establishing best practices for code quality, reduction in tech debt, and building frameworks or shared techniques to improve engineering effectiveness. Identify opportunities for refactoring, Application Programming Interface changes, solution designs, and other types of technical debt remediation. Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Drive technical decision-making to ensure the proper selection of design technologies by giving forthright, understandable, and actionable advice. Utilize experience designing and implementing A/B tests, with approaches like data-based experiments, and track business metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Leading the design and development of large-scale software applications using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and Java (5 years)

2. Architecting and developing RESTful web services in microservices-based applications using Spring Boot and Pay Pal’s Graph framework, leveraging concurrent computational models (5 years)

3. Leading Full-Stack/API design and cross-system integration, including REST and GraphQL APIs, for seamless interoperability across platforms (5 years)

4. Advocating for test automation, leveraging tools such as TestNG, Rest Assured, and Cucumber to ensure quality at scale (5 years)

5. Promoting collaborative development practices focused on high-quality code, utilizing GitHub for version control and Maven for build management (5 years)

6. Designing and implementing high-throughput real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures using AWS Kinesis and Apache Kafka (3 years)

7. Working with NoSQL databases, such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Cassandra, for flexible and scalable data storage (3 years)

8. Driving cloud-native deployment strategies utilizing AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker to build scalable and resilient infrastructure (2 years)

9. Establishing and maturing observability practices with tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and Prometheus to ensure operational excellence and system reliability (2 years)

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

San Jose, California | Salary: $169,262.00-243,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
