Context

We are seeking a senior and skilled communications professional to join our team to lead our media relations and employee communications activities. This is a strategic role where you will have the opportunity to execute strategies that keep our team aligned and engaged, while also positioning Nu as a leading financial institution with external audiences.

About the role

The Communications Sr Lead position, based in Mexico City, plays a pivotal role. The success candidate will be able to manage complex communications projects, building bridges between departments. They will have a proven track record of success in media relations, strategic internal communications, product and brand launches to internal and external audiences, project management and content development. They will be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

What you will do

• Internal Strategic Communications: Developing and executing comprehensive communication internal strategies and campaigns that effectively fosters Nu's culture, values and priorities.

• Media Relations and Outreach: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key journalists, media outlets, and influential figures in the Mexican market to proactively pitch compelling stories about our products and brand to secure positive media coverage that aligns with Nu's strategic goals.

• Content Development: Crafting and delivering clear, compelling, and impactful content, including press releases, media pitches, talking points, internal announcements and All-Hands Meeting materials that resonate with target internal and external audiences and support Nu's communication objectives.

• Issues and Crisis Management: Identifying potential issues or crises that could impact Nu's reputation, and developing and implementing effective communication strategies to mitigate risks, protect the brand and its employee engagement.

• Stakeholder management: Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including marketing, product and Human Resources teams, to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging and communication efforts.

• Market Intelligence: Staying abreast of industry trends and competitor activity in the Mexican market, and leveraging insights to deploy communication strategies and tactics.

We are looking for a person who has

• Solid experience with communications of public companies, ideally in the tech or financial sectors. Consumer technology as a plus.

• Strategic thinking with the capability to create and execute integrated communications plans with agility and accountability.

• Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and cultures.

• Project management with the ability to develop and deliver different and simultaneous workstreams.

• Previous experience in crisis management.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English.
