About the Role

This role is part of the Operational Risk Management function at Nubank Mexico and is responsible for supporting the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of operational risks that may impact the achievement of the company’s objectives.

The position works closely with multiple business units and control functions to execute Operational Risk programs, strengthen governance, and ensure compliance with banking regulation. The role requires strong technical knowledge of operational risk frameworks, third-party risk management, and regulatory standards, as well as the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy in a dynamic environment.

You'll be responsible for

  • Oversee the implementation of operational risk policies, technology, tools, and governance processes.

  • Identify challenges and develop solutions to drive continuous process improvements; and incorporate best practices and innovative solutions into the operational risk framework.

  • Assess risks and take proactive actions to address the root causes that lead to operational risk losses.

  • Ensure full alignment with banking regulation in all operational risk frameworks definition and execution.

  • Closely monitor loss events and incidents related to operational risks.

  • Provide guidance and support to front-line business units and functions.

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and testing of third party risk management, ensuring a strong process during the third parties lifecycle.

  • Evaluate the operational risks associated with the launch of new products, features, and processes, ensuring thorough assessment and mitigation strategies are in place.

  • Prepare reports and presentations tailored to various audiences, including board and management risk committees and senior leadership.

  • Operate with limited direct supervision and exercise independence of judgment and autonomy.

  • As a subject matter expert (SME), you will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders and other team members to drive effective risk management practices, including both local and global team

  • We are looking for a person who has

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineer, Risk Management or related field.

  • Minimum of 3+ years experience in operational risk management, internal audit, internal control, control officer or compliance.

  • Strong knowledge of the operational risk management framework (risk matrices, risk profile, etc).

  • Strong knowledge of third party risk management framework.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to work with global teams in defining and implementing methodologies with a 3LoD approach

  • Experience with banking regulatory compliance and corporate governance standards.

  • Strong knowledge of control testing and monitoring throughout substantive testing and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).

  • Experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment and adapt quickly to shifting priorities and changes in processes or regulations.

  • Fluent in English is a must.
