The Opportunity

As a Material Controller, you will play a key role within our Logistics Team, ensuring the smooth, accurate and efficient flow of materials in and out of the business. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the visibility, availability and integrity of our stock profile- a crucial element in enabling us to deliver against mission-critical commitments for our customers.
Our UK Defence business is a sovereign software and systems centre of excellence. We develop and support multi-domain command and control systems used across the UK and internationally, including mission-critical technology underpinning the Royal Navy. Working here means contributing directly to solutions that support national security, modern defence platforms and next-generation mission systems.
What You Will Do

  • Coordinate with Production Control, Supply Chain, Mission Assurance, Logistics and the warehouse to ensure materials and equipment are available when required.

  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, forecasting future needs to support production schedules and avoid shortages or excess stock.

  • Analyse inventory data and trends, identifying opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency and process quality across inventory control and warehousing activities.

  • Work closely with project teams to resolve material issues, including supply chain challenges, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

  • Ensure all logistics and materials processes align with Northrop Grumman UK policies, procedures, governance frameworks and values.
    What We're Looking For
    Essential skills and experience

  • Proven experience in stock control, inventory management, warehouse operations or similar roles, ideally within a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and tools, including SAP and Microsoft Office.

  • Experience working within a team and collaborating across multiple functions.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

  • A proactive, analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
    Preferred experience

  • Experience in defence, engineering, mission-critical systems or other highly regulated environments.

  • Familiarity with quality, governance or compliance requirements within logistics or supply chain operations.
