A Manufacturing Technician in the Crystal Growth department will collaborate within a technical team comprised of engineers, welders, and maintenance staff to perform all daily tasks associated with production of oxide and fluoride single crystals grown from the melt in high temperature furnaces. The Crystal Growth Technician is responsible for the building and monitoring of crystal growth furnaces. Candidates must be able to read and interpret engineering blueprints and assemble furnace builds based off that information. Other responsibilities will include weighing and mixing raw materials, operating crystal growth furnaces, monitoring data and graphs, and harvesting and evaluating final crystal products.

Job Description: -
Complete Crystal Growth process (from start to finish) utilizing Manufacturing Process Documents to include:

Weighing, measuring, and mixing raw materials
-
Operating crystal growth furnaces
-
Preparing and building growth chambers
-
Operating crystal growth furnaces
-
Starting and monitoring and ending crystal growth runs
-
Harvesting and inspecting final crystal products
-
Other essential duties include:
-
Maintain and operate all crystal growth machines and various support equipment
-
Maintain complete and accurate records of all processes related to crystal growth runs
-
Provide supporting labor to crucible cleaning operations
-
Participate in Lean Manufacturing Team initiatives with supervisors and engineering
-
Participate in maintaining a safe, efficient, orderly, and clean workplace
-
Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor
Basic Qualifications:
-
High school diploma, or equivalent with 0 years additional education and/or related experience is required
-
Experience with standard hand tools and measuring devices including calipers and rulers
-
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a frequent basis
-
Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
-
Must have computer experience and be able to work with spreadsheets
Preferred Qualifications:

Associate degree is in a technical discipline is preferred

Mechanical aptitude and good troubleshooting skills are preferred

Primary Level Salary Range: $40,100.00 - $66,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
