Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Avionics Subsystem Engineer - IFC Thread Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

The selected engineer will perform as a member of an interdisciplinary team on a key effort to develop novel and innovative solutions to advanced technical problems. The successful engineer will contribute to the overall development of platform capability development, including System Architecture/Concept Development, Requirements Development and Derivation, Performance Analysis, Data Analysis, and work with cross-disciplinary hardware, software, and firmware teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support development and integration of one or more system functional capabilities across multiple segments to meet overall platform objectives

  • Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership within the organization.

  • Perform functional and performance analyses and model behavior of system and subsystem designs

  • Integrate developed capabilities with operational scenarios and iterative and maturing hardware and software environments

  • Support mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering “V”.

  • Ensure capabilities of architectures and solutions are matured successfully against cost, schedule and technical requirements and assess effectiveness of capabilities in representative operational environments.

Basic Qualifications:

Sr.

Principal Avionics Subsystem Engineer:

  • IFC Thread Lead (T04):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 6 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.

  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: EOIR subsystems, EW subsystems, RF/antenna subsystems, digital communications, data processing methods and capabilities.

  • Experience in system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation

  • Experience in lab based testing and integration of software into hardware

  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation using MATLAB or similar tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

  • Experience in model based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools

  • Experience with data reduction from flight test/ lab integration activities

  • Demonstrated mathematical problem-solving ability and data analysis experience

  • Work experience with one of the following areas related to radar systems: search or track, surveillance, reconnaissance, electronic protection, ID, or adaptive technique

  • Proven ability to brief technical presentations to stakeholders.

  • Experience in the development of real time embedded software

  • Familiarity in Agile and Digital Engineering processes

  • Familiarity with Atlassian tool suite

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
