Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is searching for Principal/Sr Principal Software Engineers(multiple positions) to join the Global C2 Solutions Business Unit Business Unit in support of our programs, in Huntsville, AL.

The selected candidates’ task encompasses the following: Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with systems engineers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, and development. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; Ensures software standards are met.

These positions are 100% onsite in Huntsville, AL.

This role focuses heavily on Java and Object Oriented development (not web development, etc.) We are open to interviewing candidates who do not yet hold a clearance, but who have the ability to obtain/maintain one.

Basic Qualifications:

• Principal level- 5 Years with Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM- required by the program); 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD; OR 9 years of experience in lieu of degree
• Sr Principal level- 8 Years with Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM- required by the program); 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD; OR 12 years of experience in lieu of degree
• Active Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain Secret Clearance
• Experience developing software using Java
• Experience developing software using C
• Experience developing software on Linux
• Experience managing source code using Git, GitHub, or GitLab
• Understanding of all phases of software development, and practical experience in an Agile/DevOps environment
