Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer for a Requirements Lead role to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the F-35 Air Systems Integration IPT. The Requirements Lead will support the F-35 Air Systems Integration IPT and lead a team of 4-6 systems engineers on the F-35 program. In this role, the candidate will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work closely with Proposal Manager and Project Engineers to ensure requirements are clearly defined and accurately bid in all proposals.

  • Collaborate with developers, manage requirement and process workflow to enhance the F35 contract management system and capture the proposal lifecycle in a central location for seamless contract execution integration.

  • Establish monthly metrics to assess quality of customer RFP and NGC proposal responses. Analyze data to identify trends and establish root causes to enhance proposal quality through process improvements and trainings.

  • Present Statement of Work risks and associated mitigation steps and maintained proposal Risk Register in coordination with impacted IPTs to support in-process reviews for major proposals.

  • Develop the technical baseline requirements for the Proposal Supplier Statement of Work and Supplier Statements of Work (SSOW). Ensure process diligence for all SSOWs.

  • Understand program technical documents such as Build-To-Print Process Manual and Materials and Process specifications, etc. in order to assess and integrate change impacts for proposal and CR deliverables. Define, document, and execute process to review documents with the Program to ensure no requirements creep

  • Maintain the program Virtual Requirements Library

  • Create Requirements Tree Down utilizing DOORs for deficiency analysis.

  • Responsible for functional decomposition of Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements to the allocated baseline. Provide Requirements Allocation Matrix (RAM) to proposal manager

  • Understand derived requirements to establish flow down to IPTs and functions

  • Develop tools to improve requirements management on program

  • Provide program technical proposal requirements visibility to leadership

  • Develop/maintain program Requirements command media and processes

  • Maintain Proposal Requirements knowledge management database

  • Develop future digital transformation strategy for requirements management

  • Act as a central point of contact to consolidate team feedback, pose clarifying questions, and communicate decisions effectively across all parties.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and at least 8 years of systems engineering experience or related experience OR 6 years of experience with a master’s degree.

  • Proficient in MS Word, PS PowerPoint and MS Excel.

  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, and inter-organization collaboration skills.

  • Experience in requirements management and proposal development.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, in a fast paced team environment.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • DoD Secret clearance or above

  • Experience working in a process-oriented environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
