The Strategic Business Ventures team is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategies for new business models that drive exponential growth for Nike, Inc. To drive success, we:
- Consider how Nike might augment our elite products & services or identify entirely new ways to bring inspiration and innovation to athletes
- Identify outsized growth opportunities and the capabilities required to deliver against them
- Develop an always-evolving and nuanced understanding of external innovation and marketplace ecosystems
- Build insightful hypotheses on how specific opportunities could propel the Nike business forward and maintain what makes us successful
- Build comprehensive business cases, strategic theses, drive leadership alignment, and drive execution
- Lead cross-functional programs in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver against growth initiatives
This Lead will be a key business partner to senior leadership and will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Nike. The ideal candidate is an independent thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit who can make convincing, data-based arguments, enjoys diving deep into complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Strategic Business Ventures is a small, tight-knit team who values authentic, strong-willed individuals that think creatively and proactively seek out opportunities to identify and advance growth initiatives.
What you will work on
This role is truly enterprise in nature & scope. You will engage closely with teammates in the strategic finance function, but you will be expected to:
- Identify appropriate opportunities that support Nike’s strategic priorities through interaction with senior business leaders, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, investment bankers, and organic pipeline generation
- Drive strategic thinking and assess expansion opportunities across products, services, and experiences in the ecosystem of sport (e.g., wellness, fitness)
- Evaluate the benefits, risks, and synergies of potential acquisitions and investments
- Establish processes and strategy that enable Nike to achieve our strategic priorities
- Execute and operate new business models
What you bring
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in business administration or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training. and minimum of
- 5+ years of proven experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, private equity/venture capital, corporate development, business development desired.
- Ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analysis and financial models
- Experience conducting and/or analyzing research related to consumers, industries and competitors
- Demonstrated problem structuring and strategic problem-solving skills with experience managing multiple simultaneous projects
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and influence across a cross-functional, matrixed environment
- Ability to take initiative and independently drive programs
- A curiosity about framing opportunities, synthesizing ambitious concepts and comfort with ambiguity
- Demonstrated passion and understanding of the wellness market and trends
