Materials are key to Innovation and Product Excellence. We have built a new, unified Material Supply Chain organization which will transform our material capabilities, teams, and processes to accelerate our vision to serve every athlete.
As a Senior Material Developer on the Material Manufacturing team, you will drive material developments, support Nike’s multi-sourcing strategy, and duplication needs that support our global manufacturing footprint. You will develop strong partnerships with external partners, supporting and driving those partners to execute their developments on-time and consistent with Nike expectations. You will also ensure material usage and adoption through the supply chain, and support special projects as needed.
Detail-oriented and results-driven, you thrive in a cross-functional environment. You are comfortable engaging with external manufacturing vendors and internal teams, tailoring your messages accordingly. As a Senior, you will leverage your business and technical skillsets to influence new ways of working across a large organization. This role is perfect for a team-player with drive, curiosity, and strong communication skills.
WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON:
- With your teammates, you will support key initiatives that support a resilient material ecosystem and evolve operations to support key business goals. You’ll lead projects and collaborate with various teams to increase efficiency and effectiveness through process, tools, and communication. You will leverage an analytical mindset towards data systems, analytics, and quality data management.
- Along with your focused suppliers, you will manage and drive the material creation process from development to commercialization. You will engage directly with vendors, ensuring they deliver their developments on time, at the right cost and quality, resolving issues along the way. As a materials expert, you will deliver materials that meet Nike’s aesthetic and performance requirements. You will also partner with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure material adoption and utilization, ultimately delivering quality product to the consumer.
- Your typical day/week will include collaborating with your team on various projects, partnering with vendors on material developments to ensure aesthetic and performance requirements are met, as well as with other stakeholders to ensure material viability on-product. You will provide frequent and clear updates on the status of your developments, and, update any related systems and tools in a timely manner. You will deliver against seasonal and annual targets.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH:
This role is based in Taipei and reports into a Material Manager, MSO. This role will interact closely with key functional partners in Material and Product Supply Chain, especially Sourcing, Product Integrity and Costing, as well as with other Development Teams. Externally, this role will interact directly with material and factory vendors.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years relevant material development or manufacturing experience
- Specific knowledge and experience in footwear or apparel materials manufacturing (textiles, leather, synthetic leather, components) is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Project and time management skills; commitment to delivering results, on time
- Ability to network across a complex, matrixed environment, and utilize internal and external resources
- Influencing skills & ability to collaborate and drive change with various external partners and cross-functional internal teams
- Comfortable engaging with both external partners and internal stakeholders and building strong partnerships
- Ability to maintain focus through ambiguity and change
- Experience working in data systems
- Ability to travel 5%
