We are a global team of innovators and pioneers dedicated to shaping the future of observability. At New Relic, we build an intelligent platform that empowers companies to thrive in an AI-first world by giving them unparalleled insight into their complex systems. As we continue to expand our global footprint, we're looking for passionate people to join our mission. If you're ready to help the world's best companies optimize their digital applications, we invite you to explore a career with us!
Your Opportunity:
This is a rare chance to define a newly created role within New Relic’s growing finance function. Because this position is incremental, you won’t just be filling someone else’s shoes; you will be carving out your own path and shaping the future of the department.
You will step immediately into a leadership position, inheriting a capable team of three Revenue Accountants. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Revenue and Order to Cash, you will have access to high-level mentorship while retaining the autonomy to run your team your way. We offer a hybrid working model (2 days in our San Francisco hub), giving you the perfect balance of face-to-face collaboration and the flexibility of working from home.
What You'll Do:
-
Lead and Mentor: You will manage and develop a team of three Revenue Accountants, supporting their growth while overseeing the month-end accounting close process.
-
Innovate and Automate: You will identify and drive process improvements, using better resources to automate workflows and accelerate the revenue close timeline.
-
Shape Policy: You will operationalise and scale accounting policies in accordance with ASC 606, acting as the primary guide on non-standard revenue contracts.
-
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: You will partner closely with Billing, Deal Desk, and Sales teams to deliver reporting packages that provide critical business insights.
-
Ensure Excellence: You will create and maintain robust SOX documentation and manage disclosure requirements, ensuring the organisation remains audit-ready.
This Role Requires:
-
Leadership Potential: You are ready to manage a team (or have done so previously) and can balance operational tasks with people development.
-
Experience & Expertise: You bring substantial experience (approx. 9+ years) combining public company exposure with a background in Big 4 audit or advisory practices.
-
Technical Mastery: You possess a CPA and a deep understanding of US GAAP, specifically ASC 606 and the Order to Cash process.
-
Operational Resilience: You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and have significant experience with SOX controls.
Bonus Points:
-
Sector Knowledge: Experience within the SaaS industry or familiarity with consumption-based revenue models is highly desirable.
-
Tech Savvy: Familiarity with platforms such as Zuora, Salesforce CPQ, and Net Suite will give you a distinct advantage.
Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
