About Netskope

Today, there's more data and users outside the enterprise than inside, causing the network perimeter as we know it to dissolve. We realized a new perimeter was needed, one that is built in the cloud and follows and protects data wherever it goes, so we started Netskope to redefine Cloud, Network and Data Security.

Since 2012, we have built the market-leading cloud security company and an award-winning culture powered by hundreds of employees spread across offices in Santa Clara, St. Louis, Bangalore, London, Paris, Melbourne, Taipei, and Tokyo. Our core values are openness, honesty, and transparency, and we purposely developed our open desk layouts and large meeting spaces to support and promote partnerships, collaboration, and teamwork. From catered lunches and office celebrations to employee recognition events and social professional groups such as the Awesome Women of Netskope (AWON), we strive to keep work fun, supportive and interactive. About the role

Please note, this team is hiring across all levels and candidates are individually assessed and appropriately leveled based upon their skills and experience.

The Foundation Engineering team powers the core infrastructure of the Netskope SASE platform. We are solving the challenge of propagating runtime configuration state across a massive footprint of 100+ data centers in near real-time. We are seeking a Staff Engineer to architect a resilient, key-value pair based synchronization engine from the ground up. You will define the strategy for data consistency, handle network partitioning scenarios, and build a system capable of managing high-throughput config delivery with minimal latency.

What’s in it for you

We are looking for engineers with passion for solving complex problems and developing highly-reliable, performant and scalable cloud services able to scale to 100s of millions of devices. You will be responsible for full life-cycle development, including requirements analysis, technical architecture & design, implementation, testing, documentation, the recipe for deployment to production, and post-production ownership.

What you will be doing

  • Architect & Design: Lead the technical design of a distributed key-value pair synchronization service that scales to 100+ Po Ps (Points of Presence) globally

  • Solve Scale Challenges: Engineer solutions for eventual consistency, bandwidth optimization, and conflict resolution in a kv pair based environment.

  • Technical Leadership: Act as a technical beacon for the team; drive code reviews, design docs, and architectural decisions.

  • Reliability: Ensure the system is fault-tolerant and self-healing, capable of handling network partitions and datacenter failures without operator intervention.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with SRE and Product teams to define SLAs, SLOs, and rollout strategies for configuration updates.

Required skills and experience

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend infrastructure.

  • Deep expertise in Distributed Systems (consensus algorithms, replication strategies, CAP theorem).

  • Strong proficiency in Go, C++, JAVA, or Python.

  • Experience building systems that synchronize state or data across wide area networks (WAN).

Education

  • BS Computer Science required, MS Computer Science strongly preferred
