Role Summary

As a Principal Engineer, you will serve as a technical authority for AI red teaming, agent security, and compliance-aware platform architecture. You will define long-term technical direction, influence multiple product lines, and ensure our AI security platform meets the highest standards for enterprise and government use cases.

This role focuses on strategy, architecture, and technical leadership at org scale, while remaining grounded in real systems and real threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the long-term technical vision for AI red teaming and agent security platforms

• Architect end-to-end systems spanning LLM testing, AI agents, MCP, and deployment models

• Establish design principles for compliance-ready AI security products (e.g., FedRAMP)

• Partner with executive stakeholders, product leadership, and security teams

• Anticipate emerging AI threats and translate them into platform capabilities

• Review and guide critical architectural decisions across teams

• Mentor senior engineers and shape engineering culture and standards

Required Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering or platform architecture

• Demonstrated impact across multiple complex systems or organizations

• Deep expertise in distributed systems, security architecture, and testing frameworks

• Strong understanding of LLMs, AI agents, and agent orchestration patterns

• Proven ability to influence without authority and drive org-wide alignment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI or security platforms used by enterprise or government customers

• Direct involvement in FedRAMP or similar regulated product development

• Thought leadership in AI security, red teaming, or adversarial testing

• Experience with hybrid SaaS / on-prem architectures at scale

Education

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree

Compensation:

At Netskope, salary is one component of our competitive total rewards package. The salary range for this position is as listed below. This is a national range. For purposes of complying with applicable laws, the range applies to candidates in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Washington, and other states.

The successful candidate’s starting pay will also be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, location, and market conditions.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the On Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target commission amount at 100% goal achievement.

In addition to salary, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus plan (for non-sales roles) and a stock award program. Candidates may also be eligible for a comprehensive health plan and other benefits that can be reviewed at Netskope Benefits site.

Salary Range**$128,000—$260,500 USD**
