At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
Netflix is responsible for double-digit percentages of the traffic on Internet access networks at peak times, and we’re working collaboratively with Internet Service Providers to ensure that our great content is delivered in a manner that is both highly efficient and cost-effective. Today, we deliver 100% of Netflix content to 190 countries via Open Connect, our purpose-built content delivery network. We also strive to deliver a world-class ecosystem to our content creators at every stage of the production process, enabled by network solutions and collaboration. We need great network professionals to help us manage the remarkable challenge and opportunity in these environments. We’re looking for a Network Test Engineer with experience designing and testing backbone, campus, and data center networks with a particular focus on testing and automation.
As a Network Test Engineer, you will design network testing solutions for our network backbone, our Corporate offices, our creative production workflows, and our data center networks globally. You will work on test strategies end-to-end, from test design through execution and analysis - while partnering closely with our internal Networking teams and external vendors to ensure our solutions perform as expected.
This role is ideal for someone who works well with others, has foundational network engineering knowledge, is eager to learn dev-ops and automation approaches to network testing, and brings a fresh perspective to our diverse team.
Qualifications:
-
Master's/Bachelor's in science or engineering, or equivalent experience
-
5 years in networking (content delivery, media, ISP, CDN, or large-scale internet environments)
-
Knowledge of network testing strategy, automation, and iterative design
-
Lab experience in product development and regression testing, including automation and off-the-shelf test tools
-
Experience with IXIA and/or Spirent IP test equipment
-
Experience managing vendor technical relationships and troubleshooting
-
Campus architecture experience (Layer 2 stretch, voice/video collaboration, zero-trust security)
-
Strong understanding of IP routing (BGP, ISIS) and the Internet ecosystem
-
Solid grasp of content delivery, data center, and enterprise networking concepts
-
Familiarity with large-scale multi-vendor networks (Arista, Cisco, Juniper, Nokia)
-
Basic scripting/programming in Python or Go
-
Exposure to VXLAN, MPLS L2/L3 VPNs
-
Exposure to MPLS-TE network topology design
-
Exposure to optical transport systems for metro networks
What you will be doing:
-
Partner with Network Architecture and Engineering to validate hardware and software across Netflix's Backbone, CDN, data center, and campus networks.
-
Develop end-to-end network test strategies and deliver results to teams handling planning, deployment, operations, and deprecation.
-
Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, and templates.
-
Provide technical support and guidance on operational matters.
-
Serve as liaison between operational/deployment teams and lab environments for managed and self-serve testing.
You will be successful in this role if:
-
Self-starter with curiosity and willingness to ask questions.
-
Strong communicator with technical and non-technical audiences.
-
Collaborative approach to engineering, participating in cross-functional groups to map requirements to solutions.
-
Keeps team informed on work status, impact, and progress.
-
Embodies Netflix's core values and speaks up when holding differing opinions.
