Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Genetic Epidemiology (Alzheimer’s Disease and Psychiatric Conditions)

Location: Laboratory in Genomics of Aging and Psychiatry (GAPs Lab), Institute for Genomic Health, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

Position Overview: The laboratory in ‘Genomics of Aging and Psychiatry spectrum’ – GAPs Lab at the Institute of Genomic Health and the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is a new multi-disciplinary research group focused on studying the role of mental health on aging and age-related conditions led by Dr. Gita Pathak. We are seeking two motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to join our research team focused on investigating the multi-modal factors contributing to Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and psychiatric conditions, including alcohol use disorder, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. This position will involve working on projects using multi-omic data (e.g. genetic, transcriptomics, and epigenomics) in population-based and AD-research cohorts to identify potential disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, or computational biology, with a focus on neurodegenerative and/or psychiatric disorders (preferred). This is a full-time position with opportunities to work with interdisciplinary teams within the division and across several institutions. More information about the lab on thegapslab.com

Application Instructions: Interested candidates should submit the following documents to Dr.Gita Pathak using the lab website - https://www.thegapslab.com/contact:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large datasets from consortia like UK Biobank, ADNI, or similar cohorts, is preferred and not required.
  • Experience in genomic data analysis (e.g., GWAS, EWAS, or polygenic risk scores) and familiarity with neurodegenerative or psychiatric disease research, is preferred and not required.
