A certified nursing assistants primary responsibility is to assist patients with their daily activities. As a CNA, you also serve as a conduit between nurses, doctors and patients and record and communicate all issues to medical staff.
**Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- BLS (American Heart Association) required
- Completed training as a medical assistant or certified nursing assistant; Relevant experience in an inpatient health care setting preferred.
- Excellent body mechanics/transfer techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients and families.

**Roles & Responsibilities:

The Nursing Assistant

Mobility Program is an individual who functions in a support role to the Registered Professional Nurse or Therapy team by providing direct, mobility-related patient care activities as assigned.

Performs and records patient's vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respirations.

Assists patient with ambulation, transfers out of bed, and all levels of mobilization, as directed by Nursing and Therapy teams.

Assists patients in performing ROM, therapeutic exercise and activities of daily living, as directed by Nursing and Therapy teams.

Provides for safe and comfortable lifting, positioning and ambulation of patients in accordance with the principles of good body mechanics. Utilizes mechanical devises as necessary.

Participates in daily huddles and interdisciplinary rounds related to patient mobility status and goals.

Reports pertinent information and observations regarding patients to the registered nurse.

Observes, reports, and records specific patient data, behaviors and responses to treatment on the appropriate flow sheet/EMR.

Maintains a safe, clean and functional environment, including ensuring for the comfortable movement of the patient.

Cleans mobility equipment and assistive devices between patient use, in compliance with infection prevention policies.

Maintains storage of mobility related equipment in a safe, clean, uncluttered and tidy manner.

Provides support to the family/significant others.

Works in a safe manner and provides for the safety of patients and other employees.

Utilizes aggression control measures in the care of patients who are verbally or physically threatening.

Communicates information and basic instructions to patients, families, and visitors.
