We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Business Control Unit - Operational Risk – Director.

In the Wealth Management division, we help people, businesses and institutions build, preserve, and manage wealth so they can pursue their financial goals.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Oversee operational risk in accordance with the Firm’s framework, including risk reporting, analytics, and top risk identification.
  • Lead annual Risk and Control Self Assessments to ensure risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and reported.
  • Manage the Legal Entity Outsourcing program, including certification, inventory, and risk reporting.
  • Supervise incident management, including data collection, analysis, and tracking of issues and actions.
  • Support the Regional Business Unit Information Security Officer with entitlement reviews, incident analysis, and segregation of duties.
  • Facilitate regulatory inquiries, internal audits, and compliance testing.
  • Conduct thematic reviews to enhance controls and mitigate risks.
  • Coordinate Operational Risk related governance committees and forums.
  • Oversee business continuity planning and crisis management in line with HKMA operational resilience requirements.
  • Ensure consistency in risk management policies and procedures for Wealth Management.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Operations, Credit, Tax, FCG, and IT to identify and mitigate business risks.
  • Act as a contact for Information Security, Conflicts, and wall crossing matters.
  • Drive process re-engineering projects to reduce residual risk and improve efficiency.
  • Perform independent reviews to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations.
  • Prepare trend analysis and escalation reports for senior management.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 7+ years’ experience in banking, risk management, or control functions
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in English
  • Prior experience in a similar control/risk function (preferred)
  • Cantonese and Mandarin proficiency (preferred)
