Risk Governance & Chief Operating Office Analyst:

Morgan Stanley is seeking an Analyst to join the Risk Division's Risk Governance & Chief Operating Office (COO) in Frankfurt.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

The role holder will report to the Head of Risk Governance and COO for Morgan Stanley Europe and will be responsible for supporting the operational effectiveness of the Division and contributing to Risk Governance ad-hoc deliverables.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide oversight of the implementation of the outsourcing framework in the Risk Division, including the coordination of completion of Risk Assessments, outsourcing agreements and updates to the outsourcing inventory and perform quality assurance on all documentation periodically
  • Support the co-ordination of external disclosures for FRM, e.g. the Risk Report (Risikobericht) and Annual Financial Statements
  • Support the co-ordination of Business Continuity Planning
  • Responsible for other Risk COO related deliverables, including, co-ordination of ad-hoc projects and presentations for senior management, internal/external audit liaison, onboarding of new joiners and system entitlements reviews
  • Support the Risk Governance team on ad-hoc deliverables, such as tracking of regulatory submissions, findings and commitments; preparation of regulatory on-site visits / workshops and information requests; compiling & reviewing submission materials
  • Assist on self-assessments against regulatory requirements (new and existing)

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • German language skills (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience in financial services (preferred)
  • Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others, where appropriate, with experience in management by influence, facilitating and gaining consensus

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
  • An interest in working in a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple high priority deliverables.
  • The ability to work independently in a self-directed way in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
