About the Role
Japan Security Settlements is part of SSBO (SHARED SERVICES & BANKING OPS) and is responsible for Fixed Income and Equity Settlement for Japan securities traded across the globe. We're seeking someone to join our team as a Director in SHARED SERVICES & BANKING OPS to maximize the settlement rate for bonds and equities on a contractual settlement day to maintain the liquidity in the market. As a member of the team, this role will be engaging with variety of talents across the team, division and country to tackle problems, market wide changes to process improvement initiatives utilizing some of the latest technologies available. The team maintains profound training methods, including on-line materials to help you kick-start the career in the team and provide detailed insights to the industry as a whole.
In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a Team Supervisor position at Director level.

What you'll do in the role:
- Serve as the primary supervisor within specific line or project area with accountability to associated risks
- Manage direct reports, leading 1:1s and career development, attracting and retaining high quality talent in line with our leadership commitments
- Review resources to ensure adequate coverage to deliver BAU commitments, highlighting current and future needs to manager
- Share expert knowledge across the team, contributing to team output and ensuring diverse viewpoints are heard
- Process Equity and Fixed Income settlements in local market as well as cash payments\
- Investigate and resolve settlement exceptions, post settlement breaks
- Prepare payment and trade instructions and release to custodian banks
- Escalate risks associated with the settlement and implement risk mitigation methods
- Identify areas for process improvement to strengthen the control and increase efficiency of the process
- Deliver quality service and solutions evolving business requirements
- Lead the team with integrity and provide support and guidance in day-today and various projects.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Ability to lead by example, work with drive and determination, adapt management style to suit individuals and ensure team is well supported with a sense of purpose
- Prepared to challenge the status quo, raise concerns and/or needs of their team members
- Ability to pitch communication appropriately according to the audience and demonstrate active listening skills
- Culture carrier across Operations, embracing the Firm's core values and acting as a role model
- Work experience in security settlements (preferred)
- Knowledge of Equity and/or Fixed Income products and settlement market rules
- Experience as a people manager and strong leadership skills. Able to build a team based on trust with strong work ethics
- Consistently responds proactively and positively to changing circumstances
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills - builds solutions, and applies lessons learned
- Adaptable and flexible to changes and new challenges
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in Japanese and business level English is required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
