  • Vice President  - Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering Profile Description

We are seeking a Vice President – Lead Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to drive the design, development, and operational excellence of Morgan Stanley’s Azure-based infrastructure platform. This role is part of the Enterprise Computing (EC) division within Enterprise Technology, and will lead the engineering efforts to build scalable, secure, and automated cloud infrastructure services. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Azure architecture, Terraform-based infrastructure as code, and Python automation, with a proven track record of technical leadership in large-scale enterprise environments. This role is pivotal in shaping the firm’s cloud strategy, enabling self-service capabilities, and ensuring platform reliability and compliance. You will lead the development of reusable Terraform modules, secure Azure Landing Zones, and core infrastructure services such as DNS, firewalls, and networking. You will also define Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), mentor engineers, and collaborate across squads to deliver consistent, high-quality infrastructure solutions. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role that blends infrastructure architecture, DevOps practices, and cloud-native development to support the firm’s strategic initiatives

Enterprise_Technology

Enterprise Technology & Services (ETS) delivers shared technology services for Morgan Stanley supporting all business applications and end users. ETS provides capabilities for all stages of Morgan Stanley’s software development lifecycle, enabling productive coding, functional and integration testing, application releases, and ongoing monitoring and support for over 3,000 production applications. ETS also delivers all workplace technologies (desktop, mobile, voice, video, productivity, intranet/internet) in integrated configurations that boost the personal productivity of employees. Application and end user functions are delivered on a scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure composed of seamlessly integrated datacenter, network, compute, cloud, storage, and database functions.

Enterprise Computing (EC)

Enterprise Computing is a department of Core Infrastructure that provides a collection of products and services that make up the Morgan Stanley core compute infrastructure, hosting platforms and supporting application services. Solutions are delivered across the infrastructure stack from foundational hardware platforms, storage, server operating systems and virtualization up through the hosting of common web, database, middleware and reporting services.

What you’ll do in the role:

This role requires a blend of development and infrastructure expertise, with a proven track record of technical leadership and innovative solution delivery.

  • Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules for Azure services during onboarding
  • Design and create scalable, secure Azure Landing Zones and Management Groups using Terraform and Python
  • Lead and participate in code reviews, mentoring junior engineers on development and architecture best practices
  • Define and document Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) to align teams with architectural decisions
  • Build, scale, and maintain core infrastructure services such as landing zones, firewalls, DNS, and networking
  • Design, develop, and maintain self-service APIs for core cloud services
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance during project design and implementation.
  • Deep understanding of Azure core services, including networking, identity, and security.
  • Proven expertise in Terraform (advanced level) for infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Strong experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Advanced Python knowledge with experience in automation and tooling.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (GHEC Actions, Jenkins).
  • Background in Linux administration and troubleshooting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, operational mindset.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and secure-by-default cloud practices.
  • Ability to mentor team members, conduct detailed code reviews, and drive development standards.
  • Infrastructure Troubleshooting skills

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Strong hands-on development in Python (preferred)
  • At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD automation tools
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure), Git Bucket, GitHub
  • Experience developing IaC resources using Terraform
  • Ability to articulate delivery concepts and influence development teams
  • Design, develop, and maintain self-service APIs for core cloud services
  • Define and document Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) to align teams with architectural decisions
  • Build, scale, and maintain core infrastructure services such as landing zones, firewalls, DNS, and networking
  • Lead and participate in code reviews, mentoring engineers on development and software engineering best practice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-700, AZ-104, AZ-305).
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise or cloud-native environments.
  • Experience with SDLC, agile delivery, and DevOps models.
