Morgan Stanley's Securitised Products Lending Group ("SPGLE") is looking to recruit a Lawyer with structured finance experience to work on the structuring and execution of secured asset-backed lending transactions. We provide loan-on-loan finance to clients in their origination or acquisition of a variety of underlying assets, including residential portfolios, mortgages, consumer, auto and esoteric asset classes. This is a varied and exciting role with plenty of scope to develop within a busy and growing team.
The wider SPGLE business focuses on traditional commercial real estate lending and private credit, as well as other asset types. The business, which sits within Morgan Stanley's Fixed Income Division, is recognised for providing innovative financing techniques, helping a wide range of clients throughout Europe to execute their business strategy.

What will you be doing?
You will work alongside lending teams, within the business unit, to structure and execute our structured finance transactions. You will be involved from initial underwriting and term sheet stage through to signing the transaction documentation, funding the loan position, and exiting the risk position. You will be key in liaising internally with our Legal, Compliance and Operations teams as well as externally with legal counsel.
What we're looking for:
We are looking for a highly motivated and commercial candidate who has experience in a broad range of structured finance transactions, which may include: traditional mortgage and consumer warehouse financing, loan-on-loan financing; portfolio acquisition financing; private/public securitisations; fund financing; CLO warehousing; repackaging transactions; and/or repurchase arrangements.
Skills that will help you in the role:

  • 9+ years PQE with a major law firm or financial institution.
  • Experience with structuring and transaction execution on a business desk, including negotiation of commercial and legal matters.
  • Familiarity with LMA documentation and securitisation frameworks.
  • Commercially driven with ability to adapt to a varied workload.
  • The successful candidate will need to be FCA certified to perform this role and pass the associated exams before commencing employment with us.

Where will you be working?
This role is based at our office at 20 Bank Street in Canary Wharf, London. This office has facilities, such as a gym and onsite medical centre, as well as a staff canteen and cafes.
