Moog Space and Defense Group (SDG) is looking for a Project Engineer to provide engineering and project leadership for Space Fluid Controls development projects within WNY. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY.

The Space Fluid Controls team supplies a variety of complex chemical, electrical, and cold gas propulsion products in addition to critical life support components. The Project Engineer is a leader and contributor to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of complex control hardware used on military, commercial and NASA vehicles and equipment. In this role, you will operate either independently or as part of a larger design and development team including engineers across various departments. The primary focus is system/component performance and integration, while maintaining defined budget and schedule milestones. You will coordinate the work of drafters, technicians, designers, analysts, manufacturing engineers and others who assist in specific assignments. Facilitative leadership will also be required with program management, quality engineering, and operations. This is a demanding role that heavily relies on your knowledge, experience, and skills in technical coordination and communication.

To be considered for the position of Project Engineer, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering with 5 years of engineering experience or a Master’s Degree in Engineering and 3 years of experience.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience leading or supporting technical development projects.

Demonstrated experience in the design, analysis, development and production of complex electro-mechanical hardware.

Experience with component design, development and verification testing.

The ability to effectively communicate technical and programmatic information and to manage competing priorities of multiple stakeholders.

Experience with MS Project or comparable scheduling software.

Experience with Teamcenter or other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.

Preferred Qualifications include:

Engineering experience in DoD and/or Aerospace industry development projects.

Exposure to multi-discipline engineering teams.

Experience with Earned Value Management.

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Providing effective project leadership to cross-functional and cross-site engineering teams.

Providing oversight of technical, cost and schedule performance for programs for which you are responsible.

Serving as a lead engineer and the main technical point of contact with the customer.

Validating conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.

Documenting designs, analyses, and test results with accurate and concise reports.

Setting the direction for the technical engineering team, coordinate a cross-functional team of designers, drafters, analysts, technicians, and manufacturing engineers.

Proposal volume development and costing support for the Fluid Controls business unit bids and proposals.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $85,000.00–$135,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
