We seek motivated and talented students to help us build the next-generation database platform. As a product management intern on the query team, you will be responsible for talking to customers, understanding their pains and needs, and synthesizing those learnings in order to guide our decision making. You will be fully integrated into the team, helping to understand and analyze users’ needs and pain points, and advocating on their behalf. You will mine various data sources, and discuss technical constraints with engineers and designers to create new product requirements and experiences. You will also refine and communicate the product strategy to relevant stakeholders.

The Query team builds the core engine of MongoDB. Our job is to build the engine that powers billions of single-digit millisecond queries that make up the most demanding workloads. We spend time analyzing and implementing algorithms that are needed to answer a variety of queries for joining, sorting, indexing, and scanning data. Drawing upon the academic domains of databases, algorithms, systems, and the creativity of our team, we come up with novel solutions in order to build a query engine that fuels real-work workloads, ranging from small startups, to fortune 500 companies.

Outside of building the core engine, we are responsible for maintaining the MongoDB Query Language, and building the necessary toolset to allow customers to understand and debug slow queries.

What we are looking for in you

• In the process of receiving a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related field

• Technical skills; while not expected to write production code, you should be comfortable diving into design and code, learning from existing examples, exploring APIs, triaging bugs, analyzing support cases, and speaking on any of the technical aspects of the tools in your portfolio

• Communication skills, both verbal and written

• Curious and have a desire to learn and adapt; you are a self-starter and thrive in ambiguity

• Have a minimum of one quarter/semester remaining in university studies after the internship concludes. Graduation date in Spring 2027 or Summer 2027

• Must be authorized to work in Ireland and provide the Company with copies of all relevant documents, if requested.

MongoDB internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive weeks lasting from dates in June until August. All interns are considered hybrid employees, designated the "in office" working model and are expected to be in their office location 3-5 days a week.
