We are looking for an outstanding Product Manager experienced working with developer products and technologies and comfortable evolving to the rapidly changing development landscape in the age of AI. At MongoDB, this PM will become a developer experience expert, understand the areas where we can help our community of developers and our customers, and drive our developer tools strategy accordingly.
In this role, you will be on the ground with developers at all stages of their app-building journey: from designing and prototyping greenfield applications to maintaining enterprise-grade applications. You will drive solutions to enable rapid development with MongoDB while ensuring developers are making the best possible design decisions for their applications. MongoDB's developer tools–MongoDB Compass, mongosh (MongoDB’s shell), IDE integrations and extensions, and most recently, MongoDB’s MCP server–are the heart of the seamless developer experience that our developers know and love. As a PM on the Developer Tools team, you will ensure that through our 1st party developer tools such as Compass and our IDE extensions, we continue to meet developers where they are, especially as AI challenges our understanding of how developers build.
This position requires a driven self-starter who can work easily across teams, is passionate about helping customers succeed, and enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging environment.
We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin for our hybrid working model.
About the team
We are a highly collaborative team of Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, Product Analysts, and Product Marketers all working together to make the experience of working with data easy and enjoyable for developers.
We are a distributed team; stretching from our offices in Berlin and NYC to other locations in Europe and the US. Every now and then, we all meet at one of our offices for project kickoffs, workshops, and other team events.
Role Responsibilities
-
Develop a deep understanding of the developer experience problem space, interact with customers and stakeholders, and own the goals, strategy, and roadmap of your product area while keeping it aligned with the company’s strategic priorities
-
Work with the Engineering team to define and prioritize projects including customer requests, tech debt, and specific initiatives
-
Actively maintain a view of how the market, competition, and technologies evolve, and factor competitive information and customer feedback into our product direction
-
Communicate complex concepts in a manner that is easily understood by multiple audiences
-
End-to-end ownership of your product area: contribute to documentation, blog posts, demos, and marketing materials for new features, all while looking at data to make sure we are meeting our success metrics
Requirements
-
3+ years of product management or equivalent experience with a complex technical product
-
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling you to collaborate with people from different parts of the company
-
Strong customer empathy: you need to understand the pain points our customers are facing and work with your team and customer-facing stakeholders to translate them into actionable solutions
-
Technical aptitude: you understand how software is built, packaged, deployed, and operated
-
Be hands-on: we build for developers. To empathize with your users and understand where your product fits within the developer journey you need to be comfortable with using your product and similar products in scripts, CI pipelines, and other setups and frameworks that are present in the most common developer toolkits
-
The ability to communicate technical content to diverse non-technical audiences
-
The desire to understand the database and software development markets
-
Experience with the full product development process: ideation, research, creation, design, execution, quality testing, etc
-
B.Sc. in Computer Science preferred or equivalent work experience
Nice to have
-
You enjoy digging through data to understand if you are going in the right direction and discover new opportunities
-
You have some software engineering experience and you like staying up-to-date with the development market trends
