Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. CO+I is responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. Within CO+I, Datacenter Construction Delivery (DCD) is responsible for delivering datacenter capacity for Microsoft’s cloud business meeting all safety, quality, sustainability, schedule, and budget requirements. The DCD Senior Construction Manager provides critical leadership, ownership and accountability for the team's deployment and delivery of large-scale, campus and/or regionally based delivery solutions to predictably deliver Datacenter capacity.
This role is located in Austin, Texas. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidate will need to relocate and work 100% onsite.

Responsibilities
- Project Oversight & Budget Control: Monitor project budgets, manage financial controls (e.g., PERs, PSRs, Change Orders), and recommend adjustments to ensure fiscal compliance and efficiency.
- Change & Risk Management: Partner with internal stakeholders to implement updated processes that drive cost savings and cycle-time improvements; develop risk mitigation strategies and track progress through dashboards and scorecards.
- Project Delivery & Coordination: Lead campus/metro construction projects (new builds and retrofits), make data-driven decisions, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to achieve program milestones.
- Safety & Compliance Leadership: Champion safety standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA), conduct audits, and oversee incident investigations to maintain a secure work environment.
- Vendor & Resource Management: Oversee vendor selection, performance monitoring, and contract compliance; manage procurement activities to ensure timely delivery of materials and adequate staffing.
- Technical & Financial Acumen: Review engineering designs, identify risks, and recommend cost-effective solutions; apply strategic decision-making to optimize schedules, budgets, and overall project outcomes.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting: Track project scope, schedule, and budget; prepare progress reports and present financial and operational updates to stakeholders and executive team
Qualifications Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience- OR equivalent experience.

7+ years experience working on data center projects.

Experience working with data center project leases.
-
Experience working with electrical utility providers.
-
Project Management Professional (PMP) and Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification.

Experience with project management methodologies, included but not limited to Waterfall OR Agile certification, Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
-
Certification in relevant industry.

Ability to work in the field.

Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
