- Responsibilities- Architect and evolve core composition, rendering, and scene graph systems used across Windows experiences.
- Define and expose low-level APIs for rendering and visual composition that are performant, extensible, and reliable.
- Lead open-ended explorations and prototyping in areas such as GPU acceleration, animation systems, frame scheduling, and visual effects.
- Drive platform fundamentals: frame latency, jank reduction, power efficiency, reliability, and diagnosability.
- Provide technical leadership across org boundaries, influencing Windows-wide rendering architecture.
- Engage with internal partners and, where applicable, open-source communities.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.OR equivalent experience.
- Deep technical experience including leading others.
- Researching (and perhaps building prototypes and beyond) some new ways of doing something.
- Demonstrates a mastery of communication and data presentation and storytelling skills.
- Exhibits a growth mindset and humility, while working through high stakes scenarios.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DirectX, GPU drivers, windowing systems, or real-time rendering engines.
- Windows internals, Win32, or systems programming background.
- Experience contributing to or leading large-scale platform refactors.
- 6+ years shipping commercial software; deep experience leading technically complex systems.
- Solid expertise in graphics pipelines, rendering engines, or composition systems.
- Advanced proficiency in C++ and/or C#; strong systems-level debugging and performance analysis skills.
- Proven ability to operate in ambiguity and drive architectural clarity.
- Solid communication, technical storytelling, and cross-group influence skills.
