Overview
Microsoft is a company where passionate innovators come to collaborate, envision what can be and take their careers further. This is a world of more possibilities, more innovation, more openness, and the sky is the limit thinking in a cloud-enabled world.
Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture.
Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.
The Microsoft Fabric App Dev team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build end-to-end developer experiences on Fabric. We create the interfaces developers use to build applications on data, such as GraphQL endpoints and cloud Functions, along with the supporting SDKs and tools that make these capabilities easy to adopt in real projects. Our work spans the full developer journey from local iteration to production, with a strong emphasis on reliability, security, and great ergonomics. We design with the agentic era in mind, ensuring our APIs and developer tooling are both agent-friendly and developer-friendly. We operate in a quick pace environment where engineers wear multiple hats, move quickly from idea to shipped experience, and help shape product direction through strong technical judgment and customer empathy.
We do not just value differences or different perspectives. We seek them out and invite them in so we can tap into the collective power of everyone in the company. As a result, our customers are better served.
- Responsibilities- Ship end-to-end product features by writing secure, maintainable, well-tested code, using AI tools in a disciplined way while staying accountable for outcomes.
- Drive execution independently: identify the right problems to solve, break work into deliverable milestones, and proactively surface risks, tradeoffs, and timelines.
- Help shape product direction in an early-stage environment by running lightweight market/user research, validating assumptions, and proposing clear options.
- Create clarity from ambiguity by turning vague goals into crisp requirements, designs, and test strategies, and aligning partners through written artifacts and reviews.
- Operate with a reliability mindset: build for diagnosability and on-call readiness (logging/telemetry, runbooks, safe rollouts), and lead root-cause learning from incidents.
- Raise engineering excellence by improving developer workflows, sharing best practices, and coaching through code/design reviews to model strong patterns for quality, security, and AI-assisted development.
