Overview:
We are evolving the Planner experience to be a critical component of our Copilot and Agents strategy. As a Principal Product Manager for Microsoft Planner, you will be accountable for working with research and design to define how we evolve the Planner experience for an artificial intelligence (AI) first world. You will then deliver those experiences to our millions of users to ensure we maintain our industry leadership. You will bring customer empathy to the role to ensure we help teams get their work done more effectively. Planner has a very large user base, so the role requires experience with large scale AI and software experiences.
You will orchestrate across the various roles in the Planner team to ensure we deliver innovative features that help customers get more done. This role requires deep product expertise, leadership across organizational boundaries, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders while maintaining a customer-first mindset.

- Responsibilities- Transform Planner into an AI first tool: integrate AI into Planner to help users get more done.
- Define Product Strategy: Use customer and market insights to shape product vision, roadmap, and priorities for Path offerings (Planner, Tasks Whiteboard, To Do, Visio).
- Lead Cross-Functional Execution: Partner with engineering, design, marketing, and operations to deliver high-quality features and experiences at scale.
- Drive Innovation: Identify emerging trends and technologies in AI work management to evolve existing products and create new solutions that differentiate Microsoft’s offerings.
- Stakeholder Management: Represent Path in executive reviews, customer engagements, and partner discussions with minimal oversight.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Establish success metrics, build evals, analyze performance, and iterate based on insights to maximize impact and return on investment (ROI).
- Culture & Collaboration: Foster inclusivity and collaboration across teams, contributing to a One Microsoft mindset and improving organizational culture.
- Risk & Change Management: Anticipate challenges, develop mitigation plans, and prepare stakeholders for change during major launches or transitions.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software developmentOR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years collaborating with end users, research and design to craft world-class user experiences.
- 2+ years working with AI and related technologies and processes.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in work management, productivity, or collaboration tools. - Track record of driving cultural improvements and inclusive practices.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects and influence without authority.
- Analytical skills and experience using data and research to inform decisions.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and make high-impact decisions under pressure.
- Effective communication and executive presence.
Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
