Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the hardware infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! CSCP’s vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud and AI capabilities at scale. Our mission is to deliver the world's computer with an industry-leading supply chain. The CSCP organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as plan, source, make, deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), sustainability, and decommissioning of datacenter assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, One Drive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is supported by more than 300 datacenters around the world that enable services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries.

Microsoft Cloud Planning (MCP) is the central planning function within CSCP focused on forecasting, demand planning, and supply planning for all Microsoft Cloud services and associated hardware, directly impacting the success of Microsoft's cloud business.

Responsibilities Supply Planning & Execution:

  • Develop, publish, and maintain the Supply Plan of Record (SPOR) across short‑term and long‑term planning horizons.
  • Execute supply smoothing to balance capacity, demand variability, and service level requirements.
  • Validate and maintain planning parameters to ensure accurate and effective supply planning output.
  • Maintain high‑quality master data required for execution of the supply planning process.

Scenario & Risk Analysis

  • Conduct scenario modeling to understand impacts of demand shifts, component constraints, supply disruptions, or portfolio changes.
  • Recommend and implement mitigation strategies to ensure supply continuity and operational flexibility.

Inventory Planning & Optimization

  • Set and maintain inventory and buffer targets aligned to supportability, financial guidelines, and service-level objectives.
  • Monitor inventory health across all supply nodes, identifying risks related to aging, excess, or obsolescence (E&O).
  • Drive cross‑functional actions that reduce E&O exposure and improve inventory efficiency.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Planning, Sourcing, Engineering, Operations, IBP, and Finance to ensure alignment on supply strategies, constraints, and mitigation actions.
  • Contribute to development of multi‑sourcing strategies, material substitution approaches, and supply continuity plans.

Process, Tools & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process and system gaps; propose and implement solutions that enhance planning efficiency, standardization, and controls.
  • Support process documentation and improvements aligned with operational excellence and audit requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to elevate planning accuracy, agility, and governance.

Data, Reporting & Metrics

  • Extract, consolidate, and analyze supply chain data to produce actionable insights and operational reporting.
  • Provide metrics on supply plan accuracy, forecast volatility, and execution performance.
  • Ensure data integrity and completeness to support decision‑making and compliance.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 3+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, Sales & Operations Planning, material requirement planning systems and tools or related experience OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, Sales & Operations Planning, material requirement planning systems and tools or related experience
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Cloud/Hyperscale or high‑tech supply chain experience.
  • Proven business acumen with the ability to think and plan strategically.
  • Excellent executive communication skills, including the ability to distill complex concepts and present insights clearly to senior leadership.
  • Proven critical thinking skills and the ability to drive clarity in ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and lead process improvements in a matrixed environment.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.

Supply Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
