The CISO Tip of the Spear Engineering organization builds, owns, and operates the infrastructure and platforms that make red teaming, investigations, hunting, detections, and response systematic and scalable.
We are seeking a driven and experienced Principal Group Engineering Manager to lead security strategies across critical services. In this high-impact, high-visibility role, you will lead an engineering team and collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders across Microsoft to assess risks, identify critical data sources and mitigation strategies, and evolve defenses based on the threat landscape.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage software engineering team in the design, development, testing of new technologies across multiple streams.
- Builds and maintains strategic and impactful partnerships to align cross-functional security and product teams and drive outcomes and set standards. Facilitate communication for effective collaboration between cross-functional teams, including product management, security assurance and software architects. Demonstrate clear understanding and ability to translate requirements to engineering deliverables.
- Provide technical leadership to develop and implement engineering standards and procedures for technical excellence and high quality outcomes. Own and drive accountability for adherence of appropriate policies and procedures around developing, troubleshooting, and reviewing code. Ensures tools and available resources for the full code development process are appropriate.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment
- Develops best practices for others to review debugging tools, logs, telemetry, and other methods, and acts as an expert for others to verify assumptions through writing and developing code proactively before issues occur and reactively as issues occur across products and multiple teams.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Other Qualifications:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
