FBOSS stands for Facebook Open Switching System. It is the software stack powering the network switches in Meta's data centers across the world. We work on some of the most critical infrastructure challenges at Meta. Our current focus is building networking switch platforms for our AI clusters that power large language models (LLM) for Generative AI, Recommendation engine, and Metaverse.As part of the FBOSS Agent Team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge switching technology, collaborate with talented engineers, and contribute to the development of Meta's hyper scale network infrastructure. Our primary focus is on introducing new switching ASICs and roles to meet the scaling and performance needs of Meta's rapidly growing data centers. We design, implement, and deploy data and control plane features that support various applications on our hardware platforms. We work closely with cross functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of our network infrastructure.

Software Engineer

• FBOSS (Facebook Open Switching System) Responsibilities:
• Design, develop and deploy services to manage various forwarding functions of datacenter network switches (switching, routing, QoS, config-mgmt, telemetry and monitoring)
• Develop infrastructure to maintain switch state and enable communication between services at scale
• Debug network issues at scale, profile performance problems and drive e2e optimizations that span the entire software stack
• Develop and support test suites for continuous integration
• Engage with partner teams to align on goals, strategies, and roadmaps
• Participate in oncall rotations for operational support

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience in large-scale C++/C and Python code base
• 3+ years of experience with network devices (routers, switches)
• Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrate experience to work collaboratively with large cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with a wide-variety of stakeholders
• Experience working networking ASICs and SDKs
• Experience with build systems, CI frameworks, and open-source software
• Experience with switching, routing, QoS, ACLs, Telemetry and monitoring

$70.67/hour to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
