As a Tech Lead CoreOS Engineer on the Wearables Core OS Team, you will lead the technical direction and execution of Core Operating System, OS Services, firmware, and Board Support Package (BSP) development for Meta's wearable devices. You will drive innovation in OS frameworks, system services, firmware integration, BSP layers, performance, security, and scalability, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge software and firmware that powers immersive experiences.
CoreOS Engineer(Technical Leadership) Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of Core OS components, OS Services, firmware, and BSP for wearable platforms
- Drive the team's technical roadmap aligned with long-term product and organizational goals
- Mentor and influence engineers across the team and organization to foster strong technical skills and collaboration
- Identify and resolve performance, scalability, security, firmware, and BSP integration challenges in the OS stack and system services
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and research teams to integrate new features and optimize system, OS services, firmware, and BSP performance
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders and cross-functional partners
- Lead efforts to reduce technical debt and improve code quality through reviews, testing, and monitoring
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of software development experience, with significant experience in OS internals, OS services, firmware, BSP, frameworks, or related systems
- Demonstrated programming skills in C/C++ and Java/Kotlin. Experience with Android OS internals or similar platforms preferred
- Proven experience leading technical teams and driving multi-year roadmaps
- Experience mentoring engineers and fostering cross-team collaboration
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with mobile platforms (Android/iOS) and wearable device software, OS services, firmware, and BSP development
- Familiarity with Android performance tools, security models, IPC mechanisms, OS services architecture, BSP layers, and firmware integration
- Experience with Linux OS development and open-source contributions
- Proficiency in additional programming or scripting languages such as Python, Swift, or JavaScript
- Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional engineering efforts
