This position reports directly to the Manager, Data Center Equipment within the Infra Products and Services Team.

Commercial Sourcing Manager, Data Center Connectivity Responsibilities:

Strategic Vendor Management:

End-to-End Supply Chain Oversight:

  • Ensure business metrics are met throughout the lifecycle-from manufacturing and testing, through delivery, installation, and operation at the data center
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with teams including Data Center Equipment, Infra Site Services, Edge & Network Services, Infrastructure Engineering, Data Center Construction, Corporate Legal, New Tech Operations and Planning, Global Sourcing, Supply Chain Analytics, and Finance
  • Maintain current knowledge of fiber optic technology, connectivity trends, and competitive offerings. Perform market and competitive analysis to inform sourcing strategies
  • Define and drive core business metrics and risk indicators for fiber optic supply chain health. Provide metrics and insights for quarterly business reviews

Supplier Engagement & Negotiation:

  • Lead supplier proposals, RFP/RFI/RFQ processes, and business awards for fiber optic connectivity. Resolve commercial and technical queries, develop negotiation strategies, and lead contract negotiations (MPA, MSA, SOW)
  • Own and provide market and actual unit/total cost data for fiber optic commodities, including development of should-cost models

Assurance of Supply & Capacity:

  • Drive critical operations related to supply assurance and capacity planning. Partner with Demand/Supply teams for accurate demand forecasting, materials management, qualification, reliability management, and supply allocation decisions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical or business field, or equivalent experience in commodity management for fiber optic/connectivity equipment in a high-tech environment
  • 8+ years of experience in business or supply chain management, with a focus on data center connectivity, fiber optic infrastructure, cloud service providers, or hardware supply chain
  • Experience working with internal and external partners in ambiguous, cross-functional environments
  • In-depth understanding of "should cost" modeling and make vs. buy trade-offs for fiber optic commodities
  • Analytical skills for complex data analysis and informed decision-making
  • Demonstrated experience influencing, negotiating, building consensus, and making key decisions in the fiber optic or connectivity domain
  • Experience improving supply chain and supplier performance, including use of cost models and objective-based performance measures for fiber optic/connectivity commodities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, supply chain, or business
  • Experience with global fiber optic supply chains and large-scale data center deployments
  • Familiarity with industry standards and compliance for fiber optic equipment and connectivity
